How to Instantly Lock your PC / MAC

 When leaving home for few minutes and you want to lock your computer but don’t want to shut everything down, so that no one can access your data. Here’s the way to make the screensaver show up as soon as you lock your PC and you can then retrieve your session as you left it but you’ll have to enter the password to get back in.

 How to instantly lock your Windows:

 First, make sure your screensaver is enabled (Right-click on the desktop > Personalize > Screen Saver)

 Method 1: (Recommended)

 1 - Press the Win+L keyboard keys simultaneously

 2 - Your session is locked. On your return, enter your password to unlock it.

 3 - You'll gain your session as you had left it: running softwares, opened documents...

 How to instantly lock your MAC:

 First, make sure you have configured your Mac to ask for a password after sleep or screen saver. If you do not have the password required feature enabled, then follow these steps:
 - Launch System Preferences.
 - Open the ''Security & Privacy'' preference pane and select the ''General'' tab.
 - Click the checkbox next to ''Require password after sleep or screen saver begins'', you can select either immediately or a preferred time interval.

 - Close System Preferences and you’re done.

 Now you are ready to lock your OS screen by putting the display to sleep performing either of the following:
 1- Hold down the Control+Shift+Eject keyboard keys together (if your Mac has an internal Optical Drive and an Eject key).
 2 - Hold down the Control+Shift+Power keyboard keys together (if your Mac does NOT have an internal Optical Drive or an Eject key).

 Note: This is not sleep mode so your Mac will still function, press any button to wake the display up and you should be asked to authenticate with your user’s password to unlock the screen.

 In this tutorial I will show you how to capture video from your computer's screen! That is to say that whatever you do (what you see on your screen) is recorded in a video! (You can also define a part of the screen). It's useful to show how to do something in a tutorial.

 If you record with the highest quality possible, you will have an excellent video quality! What I mean is that with CamStudio, the record is very good (unlike other capture software).

 To make a video capture, use CamStudio (free). Download it from official site: http://camstudio.org/
 Install it.
 Before you start recording, configure the software: choose the "place" of the screen to record, the quality of the video...
 - Setting the Region:
 Let's start by determining the area of the screen you want to record. You have the choice between:
Full Screen Mode: All the screen will be captured.
 Click: Region > Full Screen.

 
Fixed Region Mode: Choose a specific part of the screen that will be recorded.
 Click: Region > Region Fixed.
 In the window that opens, click Select, and choose the part of the screen using your mouse by moving the cursor.

 - Video Adjustments: We must now set the video options; This option is used to edit your video quality. The higher quality will be beautiful, the more it'll be heavy on the hard disk.
 Click Options > Video Options.
 To get the best possible quality, set the options as in the picture below:

 I advise you not to set quality below 75.

 - Cursor Options: Mouse cursor appears or does not appear on your video? Depending on your desire...
 Click: Options > Cursor Options. You can choose to Hide or Show Cursor with Actual or Custom Cursor. Click OK.

 - Sound Adjustments: You can choose to not record sound, record from microphone or from speakers (for eg. if you listen to music while recording, the music will be recorded)

 That is, the software is configured!

 What is a Layout?

 A"bubble" (with text) that appears on the screen while you make your video capture. This helps explain what you do while recording.To create a Layout click:
 

 
 - Go to: Library > Insert Shape Library > Choose Default.Shapes then click Open.
 - Right click on Orange Gradient select New Shape. Check Blank Image.
 - Below, type the text to be displayed in the layout. And click OK.

 - A Layout appears on your screen, right-click it. If you want to change the text, color, font, size... Click Edit Text.

 - You can Edit Layout Transparency (Move the cursor to the left, the layout will be more transparent).
 - If you want to change the image of the layout click Edit Image and select Create cutout using a pre-defined shape then select a shape.

 - Move the Layout where you want it to appear on your recorded video. Right-click it, then click Save Layout.
 - In the Layout tab, your Layout appears!
 If you want to use several Layouts during video recording, create others; but beware of the order of Layouts, it must respect this rule:
"In the Layout tab, the one at the top will appear first"

 Keyboard Shortcuts:

 They will be used to:
 * Start recording the video
 * View a layout
 * Hide (remove) a layout
 * Show the following layout
 * And stop recording.

 Set your shorcuts as you desire.

 Recording:

 Before you start recording, minimize the software (To not appear in the video). We will use keyboard shortcuts to control the software.

How to Split or Merge PDF files

 

1/ How to Split a PDF into several pages? (divide it into parts)

 Just use a virtual printer and print only the desired pages:
 - For this, it's necessary to have virtual printer as PDF Creator. Download and install it.
 - Open the desired PDF document
 - Take notice about the pages to keep. Note them somewhere if necessary.
 - Go to: File (ALT + F)> print (or CONTROL + P)
 - In the printer name (ALT + N) choose with down arrow the virtual printer you just installed (PDF Creator).
 - TAB to "Pages" (or ALT + G)
 - Now indicate the number of pages to keep, it will therefore be the same effect as cutting a PDF.

 Example
 - To keep only multiple pages, for example: from page 3 to 8: Write 3-8
 - To keep a single page: write its number
 - To keep certain scattered pages: 2;6;8 (separated by semicolon)
 - To keep some pages that follow with separate pages and then one page, for example page 1 and from page 5 to 9 and then page 13 and page 16: we write 1;5-9;13;16
 - Hit Enter to OK (or TAB to the OK button)
 - Give a name and check the location where your new file will be saved.

2/ How to Merge multiple PDF?

 To assemble multiple PDF files into one, you can use, also, PDF Creator (free) which is used as a printer.

 - To do this open all PDF files that you want to gather. Then, for the first file, click: File > Print, select PDF Creator as a printer and start printing. PDFCreator opens a dialog box: you must click on "Wait collate" Button.
 - Open the second file and click: File > Print ... And so on until the last PDF file.
The PDF Creator's window "Print Monitor" displays the list of all files (they must all be highlighted).
 - Go finally to "Document" menu and click Merge.

 Windows 10 comes packed with new features, such as a redesigned Start menu, the Cortana voice assistant and a new browser called Edge. The new OS will also offer a more unified experience among PCs, tablets and smartphones as a way to convince consumers to go the Windows route for all their devices.  How to reserve your free copy of Windows 10?

 - First, you must be running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1, and you must have installed a March the Windows update dubbed KB3035583, according to blog site VentureBeat. That update will already be on your PC as long as you have Automated Updates enabled.

 - Peek at your Windows system tray in the lower right corner, and you should see a new icon displaying the Windows logo. Hover over it, and the popup messages says: "Get Windows 10."

 - Click that icon, and up pops a window that explains how the free upgrade works. Once it's available, Windows 10 will automatically download onto your PC. You'll receive a notification after the download is complete so that you can choose an appropriate time to install it.

 - You can scroll through the various screens of the Get Windows 10 window to read more about the new OS.

 - When you're done, simply click the button to reserve your free upgrade.

 - The reservation screen asks for your email address so you can receive the notification. Enter your email address and click the Send confirmation button. You can now close the Get Windows 10 window.

 - Should you change your mind and wish to cancel the reservation, just click the Get Windows 10 icon again.

 - Click the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner to display the menu and click the link for View confirmation.

 - Then click the link to Cancel reservation and click the button for Cancel reservation to confirm your choice.

 Note: The free upgrade applies ONLY to Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1. So if you haven't upgraded Windows 7 to SP1 or Windows 8 to 8.1, you'll have to perform those tasks first. Also, you have one year from July 29 to upgrade your PC to Windows 10 for free. After that year is up, you'll have to purchase Windows 10 yourself ! (Windows Home will retail for $119.
